David and Karen purchased a dormer bungalow just outside of Newcastle and set about redeveloping the property. As well as looking like a traditional farmhouse kitchen, they wanted their newly renovated space to have a wealth of storage, plenty of worktop space, and accessories that help with modern life.
When planning the kitchen, they wanted it to feel classic, yet fit for modern living. David and Karen were really keen for the kitchen to be in-frame and, having looked at a number of companies that provide in-frame kitchens, they settled on Smile for our ‘unbeatable pricing’.
Their stunning home is now complete. It features modern farmhouse styling throughout with beautiful furniture and accents that really make this home feel individual.
David and Karen chose our Hampton range in a wonderfully warm, off-white custom colour. Taking advantage of our colour matching service, they chose this cream shade that perfectly fits the tones throughout the rest of the room and the property. They chose to contrast this with ultra-modern chrome cup handles and knobs from our Mix collection.
To add further warmth and tie the kitchen in with the furniture around the space, they opted for solid oak worktops. These all tie in beautifully with the cabinet internals, the open shelving units, and the plate rack. They chose full stave oak to give a more premium feel with only long planks of oak used to create a more seamless look.
A keen cook and baker, Karen knew this kitchen needed to make the cooking and baking process easier. Not only did she want to ensure the kitchen had plenty of space for her to work but also that things were easy to access. That’s why the kitchen features some beautiful and handy storage solutions.
The corner unit contains a corner optimiser, perfect for getting access into those far corners and for storing baking tins, pans, and ingredients. The end of the peninsular is home to built-in bins that allow super easy access and prevent the need for a bin to obstruct the aesthetic.
To the side of the main kitchen area is a wealth of storage including a large fridge freezer that matches the Aga oven, a larder unit with plenty of space for all of their crockery, an open shelving unit to display the more beautiful items, and a corner pantry that offers unparalleled storage for drinks, glasses, food and more!
We really enjoyed working with Smile Kitchens to make our dream kitchen a reality. The kitchen is such great quality and it looks beautiful. After going to some big-name companies and some high-end names, we were struggling to get the look and quality at a price that worked for us.
Following the pandemic, building materials have rocketed. As a result, our entire project cost more than we ever could have expected. For Smile Kitchens to come in and give us this beautiful kitchen at such a reasonable price was a lifesaver. We had quotes for roughly the same kitchen coming in at well over double the price Smile Kitchens offered us!
